Our FIRST ANNUAL SPRING MATSURI on Sunday, May 7th, 2017 was a huge success! Many thanks to everyone who brought their vintage Japanese cars out and all who attended and helped make this event a reality. We will be adding event photos to our page but in the meantime, check out the albums and coverage on the Utah Japanese Classic Car Facebook Page or these albums here and here.
CAM Auto Mag has put together an awesome gallery of the Matsuri and you’ll find it here.
We’ll see you again in May of 2018!
The First Annual Spring Matsuri | Presented by Garage Kyusha
Sunday May 7th from 11am to 4pm. Roll in starts at 10 am.
The Matsuri will be held at Big Cottonwood Regional Park in Millcreek. 4300 South 1300 East. Enter off 1300 South and use the north entrance. This entrance is low-friendly (see map below) and will lead you to the staging area where you will be greeted and directed to your parking area.
Show is open to Japanese vehicles with model year up to 1990.
Cars: $10 per vehicle. Vintage Japanese Motorcycles: Free. (Registration instructions below) Spectators are free.
Your cars will be separated by makes i.e. Toyotas with Toyotas, Datsuns and Nissans together. We may group the less prominent makes like Subarus and Mistubishis together depending on registration but we’d love to have a ton of the lesser known classics show up!
We’re excited that JDM Legends will be on hand with merchandise and a few of their legendary cars to show off.
Food will be available for purchase from the Taco Man taco truck. We know it’s not Japanese but who doesn’t like tacos? Bring some cash as he doesn’t take cards.
In case you haven’t noticed yet, not only is the Matsuri a car show, it includes a swap meet as well. Registration includes enough space for you to sell those extra car parts that have been taking up space in your garage. Keep reading for registration and swap meet details.
Matsuri Event Details
$10.00 registration fee per vehicle participating in the show and swap meet. If you have multiple vehicles to enter, or you have a vintage bike, please send us an email GarageKyusha@yahoo.com. Spectators are free. Registration will be open until May 1st.
With each paid registration you will receive 1 parking spot for your car and enough room for your swap meet stuff too. You will receive a limited edition First Annual 2017 Spring Matsuri decal that is only available to registered owners. Each paid registration will also be entered into a raffle at the end of the show. Cool prizes added daily.
Show Registration is closed as of Wednesday, May 3rd. Thanks to all who registered and we’ll see you at the Matsuri!
Swap Meet Rules:
The swap meet is included with paid registration. We ask that you keep the swap meet to car parts only and that you be mindful of your surroundings. Garage Kyusha will not be held responsible for anything lost or stolen. Prices or any trading will be left to your discretion, but we ask that you keep any dealings professional and civil so that we may continue to offer this in our future events.
A Word on Awards:
For those who are expecting awards, we are sorry to announce that we will not be giving out awards at this meet. We believe that the show should be more about getting out there and enjoying the culture while exchanging some stories and knowledge, maybe even some car parts, but most important, building friendships and expanding the classic Japanese car scene.
Park Map and Show Layout
